Reflecting on Your Goals for the Second Half of the Year
Reflecting on Your Goals for the Second Half of the Year
The middle of the year is more than just a milestone–it’s an invitation.
As summer settles in and the year’s first half begins to fade behind us, many of us feel a natural urge to pause, reflect, and reassess how we want to approach the rest of the year. Whether you set ambitious goals back in January or simply hoped to survive one day at a time, now is the perfect moment to check in with yourself emotionally, mentally, and physically.
Taking time for a mid-year mental health check-in is a powerful act of self-care. Here are five thoughtful questions to help you explore where you are, what you need, and how you want to move forward:
How am I really feeling–emotionally, mentally, and physically?
Start by being honest with yourself. Oftentimes, we are so focused on doing that we forget to check in with our state of being. Are you energized or exhausted? Stuck or growing? Anxious or at peace? Noticing patterns in your mood or physical symptoms can provide insight into your overall emotional wellness.
Tip: Journaling or speaking with a therapist can help you unpack feelings that are hard to name.
What has changed for me since the beginning of the year?
Change is inevitable, whether it is welcome or challenging. Since the beginning of 2025, you may have shifted careers, relationships, routines, or priorities. Recognizing these changes, big or small, can validate your experience and give you space to process growth, grief, or transition.
Reflect honestly and without judgement. Progress is not always linear.
What am I currently doing for my mental health? What is helping and what is hurting it?
Your habits, relationships, and environment play a major role in your emotional resilience. What has been filling your cup lately? What is taking more than it gives?
Consider evaluating your:
Sleep routines
Social boundaries
Work/life balance
Support systems
Small shifts can have a big impact on your overall well-being.
What do I need more, or less, of in the next six months?
Now is a great time to realign yourself. Do you need more rest? More time with loved ones? More structure? Or maybe less screen time, fewer commitments, and less self-criticism?
Therapy can be a safe space to explore unmet needs and set gentle goals for the months ahead.
Am I giving myself grace while I grow?
Self-compassion is often the missing piece to personal growth. Have you been being kind to yourself? Are you allowing space for mistakes, setbacks, or slow progress?
You deserve credit not just for what you accomplish, but also for how you care for yourself along the way.
Give Yourself Permission to Pause
Taking a moment at the halfway mark isn’t about pressure, it’s about presence. Wherever you find yourself right now, know that reflection can be a form of healing. And you don’t have to do it alone.
