Background. I have a Masters Degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Credentials and Licensing. Laura completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at West Chester University. Laura then completed her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling at Monmouth University. Currently, Laura is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of New Jersey.

Areas of passion and specialty. Laura specializes in working with adolescents and adults. Her clinical experience has been with individual sessions, family sessions, group work, and intake assessments. Through working in PHP and IOP levels of care, she has experience in crisis management due, working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression and other mood related disorders, personality disorders, OCD, ADHD, grief, trauma, substance abuse, and family concerns.

Approach. Laura’s primary goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where her clients can process through their struggles and successes. Laura believes that building an authentic rapport with her clients is an important foundation for any therapeutic relationship. She finds value in helping clients to help themselves, to allow clients to build autonomy and explore their full potential. Laura often take a strengths-based approach and empower clients through use of motivational interviewing (MI) techniques to meet her clients where they are. Laura also utilize concepts from DBT and CBT modalities, as well as existential theory. Laura believes that helping someone by being with them to hold their pain is where the healing process begins.

Fun Facts. Some things Laura likes to do for self-care include spending quality time with family and friends, skincare routine, unplugging from electronics and getting outside or going to the beach, and watching her comfort shows like the Office. Laura enjoys traveling, has lived in Europe for three months and spent time in India completing service work. You can count on Laura for a classic movie quote and she never leaves the house without a deck of cards.
