What is Group Therapy?

Group therapy is a form of counseling where individuals meet with a licensed therapist in a supportive group setting to address common concerns, build coping skills, and learn from one another's experiences. While each person's journey is unique, group therapy offers the opportunity to connect with others who may be facing similar challenges in a safe, confidential, and encouraging environment.

Group sessions are led by a licensed mental health professional who facilitates discussion, provides guidance, and introduces evidence-based strategies to help participants develop healthy coping skills, improve communication, and build emotional resilience. Depending on the group's focus, sessions may include open discussion, psychoeducation, mindfulness techniques, and skill-building activities.

Who Can Benefit from Group Therapy?

Group therapy can benefit individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, stress, or difficulties with emotional regulation. It can also be a valuable resource for those looking to improve communication skills, build self-confidence, and strengthen their support system.

Participating in group therapy allows individuals to gain new perspectives, practice healthy interpersonal skills, and realize they are not alone in their experiences. Many people find that hearing others' stories and sharing their own promotes personal growth, healing, and lasting change.

At Tree of Life Counseling Center, our therapists provide a welcoming and supportive environment where participants can feel heard, respected, and empowered. Whether used on its own or alongside individual therapy, group therapy can be an effective way to build meaningful connections and develop the tools needed to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and resilience.
